Living on a boat may seem like a dream for some, but for me, it is the reality that I have come to love. As a passionate cook, I have learned to adapt to the limited space and resources that come with living on a boat, and this has allowed me to create some truly amazing dishes.
One of my favorite ingredients to use in my cooking is chopped basil. This herb adds a fresh and aromatic flavor to any dish and can be used in a variety of recipes, from soups and stews to marinades and sauces.
One recipe that I love to make using chopped basil is my ultimate burger with grilled cheese and bacon jam. This recipe combines all of my favorite flavors into one delicious sandwich that is sure to impress your taste buds.
To make the burger, start by mixing six tablespoons of unsalted butter with one tablespoon of chopped basil and a teaspoon of chopped garlic. This triple herb butter will be spread on the burger buns before grilling.
Next, cook the ground beef patties to your desired temperature and top with melted cheese. Then, place the patties on a bed of grilled cheese sandwiches that have been spread with bacon jam, another favorite ingredient of mine.
Finally, top the burger with a dollop of triple herb butter and enjoy!
Another recipe that I love to make using chopped basil is a simple yet delicious marinade for chicken or fish. To make this marinade, mix together chopped basil, lemon juice, honey, and olive oil. Marinate your protein for at least an hour before grilling or baking.
Chopped basil also adds a bright and fresh flavor to soups and stews. I like to add it to my minestrone soup for a pop of flavor and color.
In addition to sharing my love for cooking, I also want to give back to the community of boaters and share my experiences and knowledge with others. Living on a boat has taught me to be resourceful, creative, and adaptable, and I hope to inspire others to embrace the boating lifestyle and all of its challenges and rewards.
As Albert Einstein once said, "It is every man's obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it." With that in mind, I will continue to share my passion for cooking and living on a boat and hope to make a positive impact in people's lives.
